Try Murphy's Oil Soap. It's a liquid; you can use it to wash wood. Then do a regular waxing job on the handrails.

I would just use an all purpose cleaner. I use a product called Awesome that I get at the dollar store. There is also a good product called Krud Kutter. After it’s all clean just spray your furniture polish on a rag and apply that.

    Good luck....

I tried Awesome and Krud Kutter. Not very effective. Am afraid of needing to restain.

Hello Susan, Have you tried “ Murphy’s Oil Soap”? That stuff really works.

    Or perhaps some mineral spirits.

The only thing w/the mineral spirits you have to be very careful because it’ll strip the finish off and you’ll have to restain.

Hi Susan ! How ya doin’?

      Did you find something to

      clean your handrails?

I should have posted sooner ,

I did want to tell you,

Murphys Oil Soap doesn’t strip your finish unless you just clean it to death.... lol

So you’re pretty safe with it.

You need a degreaser that is safe for wood. I use Orange Glo Wood Furniture Cleaner & Polish to clean my oak cabinets. If that doesn't work, I make a baking soda and vinegar paste then scrub with an extra soft toothbrush. Some people use vinegar & water (1:4) sprayed on. Just remember this is wood and water is the enemy.

I’ve used it on my cabinets, furniture, and hardwood floors with new problems. Good luck
