Hi, perhaps this tutorial will help - https://unskinnyboppy.com/2010/01/tutorial-replacing-glass-topped-sofa/
Leah,
Is this top attached to the base with some sort of bonding material or does it rest in a channel?
If it rests in a channel, it is just a matter of removing the glass and inserting a piece of plywood finish to your choice.
If it is held in place by glue, you will have to find a solvent that will soften the glue. Here is a link you may want to check out.
