How can I repaint a kitchen which was painted in Oil paint?
I had my kitchen painted but not satisfied. They said they used oil based paint, and I hate oil base paint. So what do I do?

Hi Prilmer , You can repaint your kitchen with an oil based primer and then use a latex based paint for your finish.
UNLESS you want to completely strip your kitchen then, clean , then use latex primer and latex paint.
Good Luck☘️
You can paint over oil based paint with water based-just not the reverse. Oil based paint last sooo much longer than water based paint. It’s so much better, more expensive of course. Is it the color you are not satisfied with or is it the job?
If you aren't satisfied, the painter should re-do it. If you intend to do it yourself, it's a lot of prep work. First you must clean your walls to remove any dust or dirt. Then wash the walls with TSP to degauss them; then sandpaper the walls to remove any remaining gloss. Next you wild wipe down the walls to remove any dust again and then paint with a high adhesion primer (such as Zinzer or Benjamin Moore), THEN you can paint with latex.
The prep work is the most important part. The latex paint will not adhere otherwise and it will slip, peel and chip off your walls.
Paint needs to "cure."

Once cured, you can remedy by repainting.

Next time, read the contract carefully and discuss in depth what products will be used. Sorry you had to go through this, now you know better.
Prime it with an Oil based primer and then you can go back to waterbased paints!
