Water or oil based?
Lynn, Hi. Start with a soap just for wood. Murphy's Oil Soap, find it in the cleaning isle. Follow the directions on the back of the bottle. Let the floor dry completely, then rewax the area. Aloha!
Use wax remover on the darkened section. If that removes it, great! Apply 2-3 coats of wax. If not, I would call in an expert.
Since its water based I'd just use goof off or wd40 and a green scratchy pad. Im assuming The floor was already sealed? Even denatured alcohol will work
