What do I do with knotty pine?

I have lived in my house over 30 yrs... hate the knotty pine... every year I say it will be popular again, NOPE
should I paint over ... remove... ? please help my DIY family...

Painting is definitely an option, just make sure to rough up the finish with sandpaper first so the paint will adhere. Removing it would be another good option. You can sell the wood and people would pay a decent price for it.

Try pickling it. It is like a white wash but the character if the wood shoes through.
A relative painted their knotty pine kitchen and living room. It looked fantastic, brightened up the space, and made it look much larger, too.
60 year old pickled pine walls. smokers. scrubbed with hot water/salt/vinegar. painted with Kilz. SOOOOO happy now.
