Hello there, Yes if you use a matt sealer.............
Polyurethane it.
Yes! At least two coats of polyurethane. Also, make sure you seal the edges with silicone caulk - especially where it meets your countertop - or else pooling water will make the board swell and warp. Should look great though! :)
You may want to ask someone at Home Depot, Lowes, or whatever outdoor big box store you go to because I'm not sure how water will be on the polyurethane. Some will turn the surface "foggy" when wet. Maybe a Marine poly product? Anyone else know?
First I would say that I have had faux brick backsplash in the past and I HATED it. The people who put it in (previous owners) made it look very cute with messy, squishing out mortar. Well that, plus the texture of the brick made it impossible to clean. I ripped my hands us multiple times times trying. Now I will admit this was many, many years ago, but before you do it, please look very carefully at your materials and think about how easy or difficult it will be to clean.
sounds like a great choice
