Talk to family, friends, co-workers to find referrals. Or flip through the yellow pages or Google to find contractors in your area. If you are on Nextdoor.com, that is a great place too. I have found some great services through Nextdoor.com.
Hi Lesley,
The best way to get estimates is to contact several local contractors to work with you on a plan and the cost to implement that plan. Hometalk members are from all over the world so it would be difficult for any of us to give you a proper estimate.
Contact at least 3 different contractors, have them visit your home, tell them what you want then let them guide you and give you an estimate. Make sure each of them is licensed in your area and that they know the local codes. Make sure that all of the details are in the estimate. For example, what kind of finish do you want in the walk-in? Do you want tiles in a specific color or pattern? What do you want to do with the floor? What kind of fixtures do you want? Will walls have to be changed? What about lighting? Will it stay the way it is or do you want it changed? There are a lot of things involved in this project so you really need some hands-on people to give good estimates. BTW, there are also companies that specialize in walk-in tubs (if that's what you mean). You can find them by using your search feature to search something like ' who sells walk-in tubs locally '. You can also put in the name of your city and state in the search terms - like this - ' who sells walk-in tubs in Boston MA ' with Boston MA being replaced with your home town. I hope this helps you. Wishing you the best. -Linda
Home Depot and Lowes sell kits for walk in tub conversions. They should be able to recommend a contractor. Get at least three estimates and references.
