How to paint a new fiberglass exterior door?
We installed a new fiberglass door with what looks like plastic molding around the glass insert. We need to paint interior one color and exterior another. What type of paint works best AND what prep is best for god paint adhesion to the door. When we replaced the plastic molding on the previous door window insert th paint would peel off the whole frame. It was a nightmare. Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise.

I would use a good quality exterior latex enamel paint. It will hold up to the weather and will be washable. Be sure to clean the door with TSP or other cleaner. You shouldn't need too much prep since it is a new door. Remove door knob hardware before painting. The hinges should be covered with blue tape. You can use a small foam roller for the flats and a brush for the other trim areas. The best job will be done if you lay the door on sawhorses and paint before installation, but you have already installed the door so do it in place. Protect the floor below.
Take a good photo to the paint department of the home improvement store and ask them what will work for you. They have the best selection, the most up-to-date materials and most important, the most informative sales staff to get you what you need for a professional job. Since they also sell exterior doors, you can also consult with the door salespeople for advice.

I painted my front fiberglass door with Dixie Belle Paint in the color Barn Red. I did it 2 years ago and it still looks fantastic, even in the Florida Sun! After I used one coat of DBP, I did put a layer of DBP Gator Hide which gave it a little sheen and added extra protection from the elements. I have a double door and it took 1 16 oz container of paint and one 16 oz container of Gator Hide. Please let me know if you have any other questions. - Teri https://dixiebellepaint.com/
