Hi Esther, Dead Head every day, and water well...........
I would also keep fertilizing every two weeks with a blooming fertilizer in addition to the watering and dead heading suggested by John.
If you add a bit of fresh soil and a slow release fertilizer you will have them bloom much longer. Do this in August or earlier, if needed.
I have the wave petunias and did not dead head and this year they were absolutely beautiful and full. I did notice that when I added the extra fertilizer and soil they took off again. I always put slow release fertilizer in the soil when I first plant.
Most Wave petunias do not need deadheading but regular ones do,for one thing to do is that when a blooms fades you just do not pull the flower out you have to take the little stem and the green pouch with it because it will create a seed in there and once the plant has so many of these it thinks it has lived its life span and will stop producing more flowers and if you have a hanging basket that has long vines hanging and turning brown just cut and trim around the bottom of the plant basket and it will grow more stems and flowers on top and around the plant, you may lose a few flowers doing this but in a short while you will have a lot more flowering petunias. Hanging baskets in warm weather need watered some times twice a day in the soil only. You can not hurt these plants it will produce more in time.
Thanks so much. I know my baskets were supertunia. Are those considered wave petunias?
