I want I want to remove a bathtub and put in a nice step in shower
I took a direct hit last year from Irma and I'm still repairing my small mobile home I've decided since I'm doing so much remodeling I might as well do the bathroom and be done with everything. The bathroom remodel isn't part of Irma but I want to get the whole thing done. I'm doing a lot of the work myself and with friends. Replacing subfloor and new tile throughout the living room kitchen and second bedroom. The main bedroom which I use a lot has been completely redone with new drywall on the ceiling walls and painted I love it. I'm looking forward to doing a lot more work to the house and actually enjoy doing a lot of it. Floors this december, yes a year later.

You should be able to install a walk in shower yourself. You can buy a reasonably priced walk in shower with the corresponding shower walls at places like Menards, Lowes, Home Depot. You will have to remove your tub by cutting it apart to remove it and trimming the surrounding walls to get down to the studs. The walk in showers come in various sizes so you can find one to fit. I recently purchased a Delta tub and shower surround and it was very easy to install with very good directions. Delta makes nice walk in shower units. You will have to get a walk in shower and surround that comes in several pieces to get it in the bathroom and into place. I did have to have a plumber come in and make a few minor changes to the plumbing but he was confident we had done a good job installing the tub and surround.
Sounds like you are doing it right. Good luck

This is a task that might take your diy skills to the limit. We had this done last year and wow, a mess and a half. A 1 week job took nearly 3 weeks for a variety of reasons, mainly the helper quit and the contractor was stuck with doing everything.
Ny advice would be hire a professional and get a contract.
Cut it in half
