I scanned mine into my computer and from there I could make them available for other family members. If your family is willing, the photos that need cleaning up (scratches removed, etc.) can be divvied up amongst you so no one has to do them all. This worked well when we lost my parents and had a lot of albums to split up among our siblings.
I forgot to mention that I stored them with those pertinent to each family member in its own folder. Then I put them in an online cloud storage app. There are some good free services online.
I am a scrapbooker and what I did was buy archival photo boxes and they have dividers in them. I sorted my photos by date, some by holiday and some by trips, etc. once you get them in order it will be a breeze to find them. Here are some other ideas:
