How to achieve the look of old brick?
I have a long central hall thru my villa that currently has grasscloth wall paper. I would like to use brick look paneling and I hope I do not have to remove the grass cloth, but simply put the paneling over it. I am a older, single teacher that would like to achieve the look of old whitewashed brick. Do I use chalk paint, dilute latex or what?

You should be able to put the paneling right over it
Put the paneling over the grasscloth wallpaper. For the white wash look. Mix half and half paint and water and lightly brush over the brick. Use a rag to wipe and blend.
Here are a couple of Hometalk posts with instructions. Best wishes.
