Is the sub flooring damage or is it just the flooring? It will depend on the type of existing floor as well as the new flooring on how to proceed.
What type of flooring do you currently have? It is a different answer depending on floor type.
For example if it’s peel & stick tile, you can pull and replace the damaged tile. But if it’s linoleum, there are repair kits for small chips and cracks but large damage means you have to replace the whole floor.
