How to fix gel paint on cabinets?
I painted over my bathroom cabinets with General Finishes Java gel stain. I followed the directions carefully but they did not come out great. I am pretty disappointed. Any advice on fixing them or would it be better to just use some kind of paint to cover them over. Any recommendations on paint? Thanks for your help, trying to put off the expense of buying cabinets and counter top for now.

Hello! What do you dislike about the gel stain? When I used gel stain on our bathroom cabinets, I had to do a few coats until the finish was more solid because I felt like they looked streaky. The end result was pretty, and looked very modern. But there was almost zero woodgrain.

Thank you for your reply's. I used a degreaser and lightly sanded. I already sealed them and that is when you see all the flaws or areas that don't look so good. I believe I did 3 coats but maybe I should try another.
