How do I build a solid foundation for our backyard? Nothing but sand!

We are starting to landscape our backyard and need to know how to make a solid foundation for our rubberized mulch and plants. We want different levels also as we are going to use landscaping bricks to achieve this for retaining walls, borders etc...
as of now we have a sandy backyard with a few plants. Thank you!

Insofar as to “terracing”, I would be inclined to install deep edging, possibly even with additional spikes to keep your bricks/sand from shifting.
Be careful the rubberized mulch, it's been known to kill flowers and poison herbs and vegis
