Hi Sue. I'm Cindy. I'm sorry to say that I need a little more info in order to help you. Is it an indoor plant? How big does it get? Is it an annual or a perennial? Even more than that, a picture would really help. Feel free to come back to us with a little more info. We would love to help you. Best wishes.
I have used the app "Plantsnap"with some success. You just take a picture of the plant, submit it and it offers up suggestions of what it may be.

Depends on where you live. You could bring it inside before frost and cut it back. It might make it though the winter but they are normally annuals
Sounds like a lungwort, they bloom in early spring , pink/blue/white tiny flowers.
