Hi Barbara. Use battery operated sconces that you can attach to the wall. There are many vendors that carry them and lots of varieties that will fit your decor. (Amazon is one vendor). This way there's no need for an electrician and using command strips or picture hangers, an easy install. Happy DIY'ing!
Hi Barbara, I agree with the above. Btw you are a beautiful lady, happy days!
We cut out the drywall above the door and just added a large piece of textured stained glass to fit. they cut it to the exact dimensions to fit the opening, used calk so it doesn't rattle when the door shuts and then we added wood trim to hold it securely in place. Lots of light now pours into the hallway from the bedroom. That same idea helped to brighten a half bath so I don't even need to turn on the light all the time. If I need to close it up temporary, then I just tape on a piece of poster board over the glass.
I am a semi-retired contractor. And I have in several instances used solar lights not, cheap a $300.00 + install price. But are very effective and work well they are called solar lites' most have no electric lights but if in an home with no attic their is electric ones help could help an even led. lights that are very small you could put up against ceiling to brighten hall / but down side you will need a electric source; solar lights are very nice they have mirror pipes that work Very Well ! Do you have a photo?
Here are a few photos. Some you will have to someone install, but it will be beautiful and safe! You stated that there is a bedroom at the end of the hall, be sure it’s open, and you can get as much natural light as possible. Also use mirrors and metals to reflect any light. And tall thin lamps. And a white/light runner, or two
I had ceiling pot lights installed in my hallway.
