Some things I have heard to try are used kitty litter, irish spring soap, store bought deer repellant, shiny objects.
I also heard that a fishing line "invisible fence" around the garden about a foot off the ground startles them when their legs brush it and deters them. I want to try that for my vegetable garden!
Liquid Fence Deer repellent concentrate works well. Shake very well before and after mixing with water, and while liberally applying to top and bottom sides of leaves of plants and trees. Also spray perimeter areas to keep deer and rabbits away. It smells of putrescent eggs and garlic for the fiirst hour or so, then dissipates (to humans, not to deer). Reapply every 2 weeks for first month or two, then once a month, thereafter.
Deer love new, young growth, so spray these areas to the point of run off. Spray in the evening, after sundown. It can be applied within 1 hour of rain. If you receive exceptionally heavy rains, reapply.
Try bird wrap netting, deer proof plants don’t always work as the deer will “taste” a whole row of daffodils.
Also spreading human or animal urine around the outside of your garden will deter them for quite awhile.
We have used Irish Spring bar soap! Slice the soap into shards with a knife! We scattered the shard of soap around a variety of bushes that seemed to be a favorite food source! Works for us!
The soap will dissolve over time and will need to be reapplied!
