We have lot s of family living together. So we wanna build a breakfast bar from scratch .There isn't anything to start from . Does anyone have any good ideas? If the bar has extra storage e Ben better being as there are 15 of us in a small home but car ing for my 6nieces & nephews after there parents passed is my an option . I'd have it no other way . Besides my husband s I there are 3 other adults as well .we keep family together ❤. I was thinking maybe something with wooden crates may be along the sides where legs and be 4storage lea v ing leg room . Do you thing it may be easier to use some type of furniture from a thrift store for the bones . Or can anyone help me w/a plan from scratch . It would have space to be about 7-8foot long & of course the height of barstool s makes n eat sen se. Any ideas to cheaply build those from scratch please I'm all ears !????????? Thanks for any help

Wooden crates might work if you can find them cheaply in stock them to give you the height that you need. But I would suggest going to a used/reclaimed building supply store and seeing if you can find some base cabinet pieces - they're usually pretty cheap. Then you can get an inexpensive piece of countertop at Ikea like this one m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/60335694/
You say there are 15 people but only define six children and 5 adults. Are the other 4 people children or adults? How young are the youngest children? I mean could they sit other than on a high bar stool? With so many people you may have to eat in shifts or have seating areas in two rooms of the house. On our family Thanksgivings we are 13 to 15 people and the children sit separately. One idea would be to get two second hand bureaus that are the same height. They could be the ends of the table and face outward for storage, a long board like a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood placed on top could be the table top, which you could cover with some linoleum or tile with pretty tiles. This would be easy to clean and nice to look at. Good luck! Maybe check out the Duggers on line and see how they eat!
Are you building the bar onto a kitchen pass through? If so they usually use heavy duty brackets and either a 2" wood slab or 2"x18" piece of lumber, or it can be granite also. If you want storage, maybe add 2 tall bookcases on either side.... what they call a tower bookcase.
