How to remove brown scales from lemon tree plant?
I have a lemon tree about four feet tall, that I planted from my own lemon seeds. It has brown scale on some of the stems. I don’t want to lose the plant, but how do I get rid of the scale? My plant has always been inside in a sunny window.

I would take a couple of the leaves to your garden center and ask them. If they are knowledgeable, like they should be, they will be able to identify the problem and show you how to take care of it. I should really hate you to lose your beautiful tree.

Soak it with Neem oil. It comes in a spray bottle or you can buy it and mix it yourself.(cheaper). You have to have it dripping wet. Follow instructions. Also, wipe it all down with wet paper towels to remove the scales. It is quite involved but worth it.
Hi. Take it outside immediately so the scale does not attack anything else. Wash it down with paper towels and mild dish soap and water. Rinse well. Make sure you get as much of the scale off as possible. Then re-pot and leave it outside with it getting at least 6 hours of sunshine. Repeat the cleaning weekly for the next month. As the weather gets colder, build it it's own greenhouse with plastic and pvc pipes. Cover when there will be a hard freeze. Going forward, leave the tree outside. It needs the rain and the breeze and sun to get better.
