Here are some tips on how to fix the split: https://homeguides.sfgate.com/fix-bark-splits-40659.html
We had an older pear tree that partially split and survived for years after, so it's worth trying to save it. I pruned to minimize weight on either side of the spilt to keep it from getting worse and follow all the pesticide treatments you'd normally do.
IF THE SPLIT IS WHERE YOU CAN TIE IT TOGETHER WITH SOMETHING LIKE OLD PANTY HOSE, GIVE IT A TRY. THE PANTY HOSE WILL LAST YEARS AND WILL EXPAND AS THE TREE GROWS. IT WILL NOT HARM THE BARK OF BRANCHES OR TRUNK.
You may want to use stakes and try to provide some support for its weight. I also had a pair tree with a hole in the middle and it kept producing pairs every year till a bad wind storm brought it down.
