I use the trick of I find sitting things on white paper to attract the bugs out of plants when I have foraged things. - that might be worth trying with your houseplants before you bring them in :)
spray with rubbing alcohol. It will kill all kinds of insects and spiders. It will not harm plants as it turns to water in a few minutes. You may have to repeat a couple times the first week. Also spray the inside pot rim and top of soil.
Place plants in a large plastic trash bag spray plant bug spray into bag seal for a bit then bring inside or hose down plants before bringing in always works for me
Dilute ivory snow liquid in water and spray the plants and soil. Bugs disappear.
Tree spray works well, also as mention mix of 1/2 rubbing alcohol in a quart of water. Lightly mist each plant and under the leaves also. I've used for years, seems to work for me.Good luck.
Abut two weeks before bringing your plants in (I do this) get some Systemic Insect Killer. It is a product that you incorporate in the top soil of your plants. Then water. The SIK goes into the roots of the plant, the insects eat or land on the plants and are GONE.
Works really well for me. I buy it at a plant store or a hardware store.
When I bothered with plants, I always washed them thoroughly with a hose and inspected thoroughly before bringing them inside.
