I don't know where you live, but I think a Fall-Halloween-themed wedding could be fun. It would be nice if guests wore "pretty" (dressing up in fancy dress of other times, or places, or famous figures, etc.) costumes rather than scary-gory ones, but that's up to the bride & groom. Depending on the budget, Fall-themed foods & drinks (do a search for autumn foods?), pumpkin bread cake, apple cider or sparkling apple cider or appletinis to drink, home-cooked type foods, pretty decorations featuring autumn leaves, pumpkins, gourds, etc. You could also use tail-gate party type refreshments, since football is a fall-season game.
The best part of this is that you have a whole year to prepare. Best wishes to the bride and groom.

Make sure to be on the doorsteps of every home decorating store & Wal-mart/Target/etc. on 11/01/2018 to snatch up the bargains.
We went to a wedding where they married on Halloween and she diyed a lot of her decorations. They had masquerade masks, that way they can easily be removed for different activities instead of costumes getting in the way. Not only that, it is a wedding not just any old party! They also had sparklers for when it got dark.
Luckily you have plenty of time to shop sales and make your decorations.
Being an October baby, I had many birthday parties growing up and they were all themed with Halloween costumes. I never really felt I had my own special day like the other kids. Depending on your granddaughter's taste, I would keep the Halloween party at the front door.....and transition to a tasteful fall theme inside or in the back for the wedding. I'm sure a traditionalist that I can't help but think of them in 30 years looking back at Halloween decor for the day they decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
Fall is a great time to find inexpensive fall decor out in nature! Leaves, branches, dollar store battery candles.....Use plain white sheets from Walmart as table cloths and use inexpensive netting draped around the table with white strings of lights or fairy lights inside the netting.

Congratulations to your granddaughter for her triple celebration next year on Halloween. Best of luck.
Hi Dorothy - I love the "Til Death Do Us Part" theme for a Halloween party. You can make it super simple and DIY and have everyone dress up. Congratulations to your daughter and growing family! Hugs, Holly
Since it is next year, right around/after Halloween this year buy everything on clearance! I think you can use the Halloween colors, but be tasteful about the scary and ghoulish decor - great for outside but not so great for wedding photos to last a lifetime. You can tone down the orange and black combo by adding tones of brown or green.
