Ideas DIY for a Sky or on roof terrace garden?
I own a penthouse where I have a huge open terrace where is full sun. I try to do my best on potted plants, but sun burns them. The only season I can enjoy my green and blossomed roof garden is from November to May. I cannot build pergolas because of building laws, I only have an Umbrella table with 4 chairs. I would like ideas on planting. Thanks.

Freestanding lattice “screen walls” that are “c” shaped. The bottom & the top of the C’s are short. The bottom is held down with decorated concrete blocks that pots sit upon. The top of the “c” has angle brackets and hooks for hanging plants.
If you make two screen walls, then connect them in a big “L” shape to keep them from falling over. If you can build them 6’ tall, that gives you 2’ left over from a 4x8’ sheet or if you use 2x4’s, you can buy them pre-cut in 2’ increments.
You will need to by “treated wood” if you want it to last more than a year. Treated wood requires nails & screws that won’t have a galvanic reaction- so read the sides of the boxes carefully at the big box DIY store.
If there is a water outlet you can add an irrigation system for pots

Although I don’t have an answer yet, however I will put on my thinking cap...I just had to write you. This must be absolutely beautiful. We are downsizing, from a large house, in a year or so and this is exactly what we are looking for. Anyways, I am going to think about this, because we love our gardens also...I’m sure there’s something you can do. I’ll talk to you later.
Would you be allowed to set up some sun sails? You can buy some or make some out of canvas drop cloths.

I planted some bouganvillas that make well on full sun exposure on big planters. I think to Plant another bush or low profile trees. Thank you to you all. I appreciate your time and suggestion. All considerable.
Bouganvillas can handle being trained into any shape and height, given espaliers and gardeners’ wire.
