Are you sure it’s water stain? Can you send a picture? Hardwood floors can be sanded quite a bit to eliminate decades of abuse. Hire a pro to sand the hardwood floors because they have giant belt sanders that are made to be used standing up.
Try a blow dryer first on the hottest setting and wave it back and forth over the water mark--don't hold it in one spot for too long. If that doesn't work--try ironing over a dishtowel placed on the spot with a warm iron--moving the iron back and forth.
Place a cloean cloth over the stain. Iron set on low and iron over the cloth. A dab of white toothpaste on a cloth and rub in a circular motion.
