Have you Googled yet?? That is where I would start. What are your specs? Do you want counter height or bar height? How wide? How long? All things to consider to fit your space properly. There should be enough room to easily get around with someone seated and also to have access to any cupboards or open appliance doors.

Incorporate storage? I certainly would. And add at least two electrical outlets - doing crafts you may need a glue gun or other tools. Since it is in a kitchen it will need to double duty to plug in food processor, mixer, blender, etc.
Now style. What will compliment the style of your kitchen or home.

You can either build one of these, provided they fit in your space, or design your own and have blueprints drawn up for you.
Try "Ana White" site for plans. They are easy to follow.
Catherine Hi,. Home Depot should have a book to help you make your project. Check in the front of the store by the registers. They have all kinds of books on wood, and illustrations, check it out. Aloha!
Too extensive of a project to explain. Type it in your browser and you will come up with a dozen or more videos.

The simplest: I bought an ikea Kallax bookcase, 2x4. Turn it on it’s side so it is 2 levels high by 4 long. Ikea sells metal bars with wheels on the ends (that can be locked) for this specific bookcase in this usage. They suggest two sets; I say you need three. Then you can buy or have a countertop made in any size you like. You need an overhang on at least one side but not too deep, as the bookcase squares are now your storage cubbies. Ikea sells easy to assemble inserts for the squares if you want— all kinds, from woven baskets to plastic and cloth, to doors and even drawers. I used a combination and left some open. My overhang is 10”, and 12” or so would have been better but I didn’t have the money for a wider top. So my stools are a bit small. But the height is perfect for working while standing or sitting at a bar height stool.
