How to repair a hole in the basement?

Any good suggestions as to hiding a sump pump. Not only is the pipe jutting out from the wall but the hole in the floor for drainage.

You could buy a plastic basket and cut one side out of it to slide over the entire "mess"

We took a piece of plywood and cut it bigger than the hole and a hole to go around the pipe. We have a cat and small kids at the time.
