How do I remove popcorn ceiling??
I would like to remove popcorn ceiling instead of covering it up. After an internet search, it seems to be a long a tedious job. I’m thinking on saving all that time and just remove it entirely. I would replace it with drywall and basically start fresh. Is there an easier, less time consuming way to remove popcorn ceiling? Thank you

Spray the ceiling with water and scrape it off.
I toyed with the idea of doing this in my house, but since reading this, a lot of other websites and watching YouTube videos, I think not. Too messy. If you are still gung ho on doing this job this article is just the ticket:

You must first find out if it contains asbestos. If so you will need a professional to remove it whether you opt to have it scraped off or have it entirely removed & replaced w/new drywall. A different option is to not disturb it at all and simply place a new material over top of it. You are right - it is a tedious, messy job. There is drywall under the popcorn. It is sprayed on over the drywall.
If you don't want to remove the popcorn, you can put another layer of drywall over the popcorn ceiling. Remember, whatever you decide to do, some popcorn ceilings may have asbestos in it so wear a mask or paint over the popcorn to encapsulate the asbestos.

use a wallpaper scoring tool first then hot water mix with vinegar 50/50
let sit for 3-8 minutes respray then scrape with a wide knife tool or floor scraper. (the scoring tool breaks the surface allowing mixture to get through) and of course use drop cloth and let scrapings dry for lighter transportation from job site
