I prune and then use those beautiful stems for propagating. I trim back the shoots that spark off the main stem.

Wait til late fall or early spring. Research your berries. I know our red raspberries will produce on last year's growth. Meaning what has grown this year, Will bear fruit next year. So you don't want to cut those. Then using clean shears, cut them all the way to the ground. Good luck
