I also have aluminum with same problem.
Ketchup and salt, just rub it around.
Got rid of Revere Ware copper bottoms and replaced with aluminum bottomed Revere Ware. Cleaned copper with copper cleaner available in all supermarkets.
Use Wright's Copper Cream, just wipe it on a wet pot and wipe it off with water. Hardly any scrubbing needed. Do this every time you use your pots and it will be easy. If your supermarket doesn't carry the Wright's copper cream you can buy it on line.
Pour a 1/2” or more of distilled white vinegar in a frying pan or skillet and sprinkle in salt. Heat the vinegar/salt mixture on a stove to almost boiling. Put the bottom of the copper pan in the hot vinegar, and pour enough water in the pan to prevent it from floating in the vinegar solution.
Thank you!

How to Clean Copper Bottomed Pots
Barkeeper's Friend....In a round gold colored cardboard can of scrubbing powder..Wet the bottom of the copper pot, sprinkle some BKF on it, use a medium or fine plastic or sponge scrubber. The first couple of scrubs you might think it is not going to work, then magically it work's, copper bottom's are dazzling and beautiful....That was Grandma O'Brien's trick to keep her heavy Revere Ware pot's bottom's sparkling clean. Grandma passed a few year's ago at the age of 103, I inherited the Revere Ware and clean them like Grandma use to with Barkeeper's friend. Thank you Grandma O'Brien, love you...
