Do I need to the find studs in a lathe & plaster wall when installing bead board paneling?
I'm using liquid nails and a nail gun to install.
Ok, what did not work on the stud finder?
A. Put a Plastic cup to your ear
B. Knock Gently on the Wall until your knock on the wall doesn't Sound Hollow.
C. Mark that spot with a Pencil
D. Keep knocking and repeat A until you found them all.
Look at the Trim. Since the baseboard is attached to the studs, look to see if you can spot where it might have been nailed.
What is the composition of your walls? Not all stud finders work with homes built in the 1920's/1930's, due to wall thickness and composition.
I’ve used a magnetic stud finder on drywall. It worked fine for me. I did however have to move the stud finder vertically & horizontally. Once I found it vertically, it was easy to find the rest horizontally! Hope this helps!
