How do you get a shower curtain rod to stay up?

Tension rods do not carry the weight of a shower curtain and the tug of opening/shutting it well. Have you considered a shower curtain that is attached to the wall? If you rent, you will have to leave it when you move but it will solve your tension rod problem. They are easy to install with a couple of screws. Or if you want to keep the rod, you could use the tension rods you already purchased and put up a block on the wall on each end with a little resting notch cut out of the block for the rod to rest in. That would probably hold it up too. Paint the block to match the wall paint and leave them there.

The tension rod for my home's shower curtain has rubber feet on each end and the tension is adjustable by twisting the rod. It should fit REALLY tightly. Do you think you've adjusted that tension enough?

The shower rod in my camper refused to stay up, so I used a couple pieces of non-slip rubber shelf liner from the dollar store. Worked like a champ.

If all else fails, you can install closet rod holders from the hardware store. They'll hold your shower rod up.

Becky...A tension rod needs to be twisted, two different directions, on each end at the separation. You have to get it tight by pushing it in some on one end... then bringing the other end up to level. Even after you have it in place ...you may need to twist a little more to make it tight enough. I had the same problem! No amount of adjusting ever held for more than 3 weeks or so😡. THEN-I put command strips at each end of the rod, set it back up where I wanted it and one year later it still hasn’t moved😊
