Take a dish towel and place it over the white marks. On medium heat use your iron and go over towel--keep the iron moving. Check every few minutes to see if the white is disappearing. Move the towel to each area. The white spots are due to moisture under the top finish.

I did the same thing to my dark walnut stained table top. I lightly sanded the entire top, then applied 2 or 3 coats of walnut brown cabinet grade paint from Lowes Home Improv. Since the paint is made for hardworking cabinet doors, it's extremely chip resistant. I've had mine painted for 2 years now, and we eat on it everyday, so it gets wiped down daily. Still looks the same as the day we painted it.
Thank you for the help i'm going to try your way and thank you for not recommending trinkets and doilies didn't need sarcasm just great advice as from you really appreciated
I used mineral spirits and a very fine steel wool and just rubbed my white spots away. It worked very well!
Easiest thing to do- just blow on it with a hair drier. You won’t have to worry about a lot of work nor damaging the varnish. I’ve done it many times and shared this trick with propels that didn’t believe. Just takes a little time, once it starts to warm up you can move the hair drier a bit and keep going- it literally disappears.
