does NOT leak.... seems two with this type middle piece does not leak, so is this better then the flappers??
How do I repair my leaking toilets?
Had a plumber replace a couple toilets that were leaking parts, approx 2 years ago, so I would expect they should last at least a few years.. Some are leaking again.Any thoughts/recommendations for which parts are better than others?where is the leak likely to be happening? on the flapper/middle of toilet area? or at the left side module that fills the water back in? I assume at the middle part?Pics have text that describes which toilets leak and type middle piece (?flush valves???)
This one LEAKS... about once an hour for 2-4 secs fill. Does the middle piece Flapper only need to be replaced? and if so, same type flapper, or the long tube type? (Looks like a LOWES Plumb Pck Flush valve: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Plumb-Pak-Flush-Valve/3133311, or a Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Replacement-Flush-Valve-for-Mansfield-Valves-41142X/202305782)
This Sunroom toilet also leaks, not much, but every once in a while I hear it and I work in the sunroom all day to hear it.
This one does NOT leak! Is this middle piece better than the flappers? (Looks like a LOWES Plumb Pck Flush valve: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Plumb-Pak-Flush-Valve/3133311, or a Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Replacement-Flush-Valve-for-Mansfield-Valves-41142X/202305782)
this toilet doesn't leak, so I'm not sure if it makes a difference what type Flush Valve we get. ??

Add a couple of drops of food coloring into the tank. If the water in the bowl changes color, then your flapper is leaking. Check water level in tank - if it is too high, then the water is overflowing the top of the overflow tube and needs to be lowered. Water can also be flowing through fill valve and into the overflow tube. Most name brand parts should work well when you determine what parts need to be replaced.
If this is leaking in the center float, it is probably the o ring. If you can find one the same size, remove and replace. Or you can replace the whole piece. I am lucking enough to have a handy man for hubby and he gives me step by step directions. But I have found I can go to You Tube and find how to fix just about anything. You can do it!
I doubt you need to take the tank off. You may want to place a heavy towel on floor to catch left over water. Cut off water flow from inlet valve, drain the tank. Check for size of wrench and remove supply tube from bottom of tank. Pliers or adjustable wrench will probably work. Remove tube from overflow and take out old float assembly. Install new float, attach to supply tube. Turn on water and watch for any drips, tighten nut as needed. Adjust water level in tank to be below overflow tube at least 1/2 inch. If the flapper ball feels mushy you might want to replace it while you have it apart.
Thank you for the replies, for whatever reason, I'm not getting the HOMETALK e-masils I used to when someone replied. checked SPAM, but not there, so now I am sporadically just checking the Hometalk page.
