How does one protect a large wooden deck from ice and snow?
We replaced a large wood deck made with pressure treated lumber several years ago. When it was ready we stained it with quality stain. Unfortunately, over the years it continued to require surface care, so we finally decide to buy a new product that was very expensive, and stated that it would withstand just about anything. Guess what? Mother nature once again proved them wrong but I'm sure they knew that prior to marketing this product. It is thick and goes on like paint and yes, also comes off. Anyone know of a product that will provide protection at least for a couple of years?

Nothing much you can do. It's wood and weather will affect it. Decks do need to be maintained on a regular basis. Cleaned and stained/sealed every three to four years. A good UV solid stain provides the best protection. Pressure treated decks need to be real dry. They suck moisture like crazy. I hope you didn't use a deck over product. Too many problems with them and class action lawsuits against the manufacturers.
