Hi Verna, From the research I have done on it, there really is no way to fix it. Even if you put something over it the original material is breaking down so it will break down to eventually. I have been dying to try flexseal on one. They make it in different colors and I think it would adhere everything together if I sprayed the whole cushion. Hopefully I will get to try it out this summer when people are giving away the ones they have that are peeling. Sorry I couldn't find you a solution.
You need to buy fabric and reupholster, as Rebecca is right: there is no repair for it breaking down.
However If there are parts that are good, you can integrate that leather remnant as:
Arm Sleeves
Borders
By stitching the fabric to the leather in Regular Geometries rather than in Irregular Patchworks or integrating Zippers (recommended).
Best imagined as Leather Arms with a Darker Colored Fabric on Cushions and Backing, that looks like a Blanket on it, but is Stitched or Zippered in.
If I were you I would use the opportunity to Advantage a Variety of Eased Options And place Zippers everywhere to make it Much Easier to Clean and also to Change up the Couch per each Season to not only avoid Sweating but also match curtains:
A. Plush thick Dark Brown [like Courduroy] is Cozy and Warm in Late Fall and Winter
B. Thin white Satin is Great in the late Spring and Summer.
C. Something Seasonallly Appropriate for the Holidays like Easter, and Christmas is always welcoming to the Guests.
These enable you to make a Positive Outcome out of it as you Gain a Variety of Eased Options that very few have.
Think of it like a Tablecloth for your couch...
