Donate, take to a consignment shop, or sell yourself, via on line/paper ads.
So many charities and thrift stores will take your clothing! Many drop off boxes make it easy and you can Google to see how they help others. What to make some cash....Look for consignment stores in your area, or Plato's Closet or other stores that buy your gently used clothing for resale. Want to sell it yourself? Look into selling on Ebay!
My old clothes go to the local women's shelter. At this time of year everyone is collecting and would be grateful for anything you have to give away.
Letgo is popular for selling clothes and other items. Facebook has local pages you can buy/sell on. Craigslist.
You sound like long overdue for a purge. Get some boxes. Sort by season first. Then decide if you really might wear it next season. Yes; put in box to put away til needed. No, Put in box for donation. If it hasn't been worn in more than a couple of months; does it fit? Do you really want it? Yes Store it; No Doate it. IF any of it has been too worn to be worth anything...Trash bag.
You must be absolutely honest with yourself; NONE of the 'It might come back in style. Maybe I'll wear it next year' ETC because odds are you won't.
If you want to have a yard sale first; then donate leftovers. OR if there is a consignment shop near you take the best there to see if you can sell it.
Thank you that all helps and great advice.
Hi Rachelle - This is one of my favorite articles on cleaning, organizing and decluttering. It really breaks down the steps of the process, and even includes an interview with TV show Hoarders star Matt Paxton. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
