I'm Linda. I agree with Mona. 55 degrees F is the best temperature to use when you go away. My first husband was in this business and when we went away we always set our thermostat at 55. Just thought I'd confirm what Mona wrote. Wishing you the best!
My heating professionals suggested setting the thermostat at 60 degrees rather than 55. It is more efficient for the furnace at 60 degrees. This advice was for a propane furnace and a fuel oil furnace (neighbors). Also consider looking into a thermostat system that can tell you what the temp is in your home while you are gone. Some will send an alarm to your phone if there is something wrong--you can also set it up to call your neighbors or house sitters who can go and check things out.
