It does peel off, you just need to start the corner. It sure can cling on the stainless steel tight though!
Warm it up with a blow dryer and peel off.
The plastic has melted so you will need to scrape it off gently. You could try doing a bit at a time by heating an area with a hair dryer and then gently scraping.

Try to catch the corner. I had a tough one on our new dishwasher. I used my finger and rubbed back and forth at the corner until it crinkled and peeled away enough for me to grab it.
