Just buy what bull nose trim will fit, attach with a bead of wood glue and finish nails. If stained cabinets accent paint or stain prior to install. Fill in nail holes with what is appropriate for the finish. Wood putty and paint or matching wax pencils to stain color. I hope you enjoy your project!
Susan,
I am assuming this is full bullnose, not partially rounded and has a flat back, not notched. I am also assuming your cabinets have a straight top with no other trim and you are not going to have to scribe the trim to the ceiling. And, finally, you are attaching the trim to the front of the cabinet and not onto top. You have a few choices. The best is to not be able to see any indication that it is nailed or screwed from the front. A micropinner will make a tiny hole so you could use one of those from the front. If possible, predrill screw holes from the top and back of your cabinet into the trim from the back side and screw together. You could also use a brad nailer the same way if you have the room. Lets say you have no room to use tools up at the top of your cabinets. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the trim. Use a type of clamp that will fit in the space. You may need several of them depending on how long the trim is. Use regular wood glue if you have mitered corners or straight pieces to join. You can also use masking tape to hold the trim in place. Make sure to test it and see if it will damage the finish on the wood.
Susan,
I forgot to answer the other part of your question about what to get. You may need to go to a lumber yard and not to HD or Lowe's. Tell them what you are doing and they will know what you are talking about and show you what they have or can order. Bring a picture on your phone of the cabinets or a drawing. Know how many feet of trim you need plus some extra for mistakes. The one problem you may have is the width of what's available. It may require that the back of the trim be ripped down to be the thickness you want for your cabinets.
Hi Susan! I wish you the best on your project. Check out these links for further information. Happy Holidays!
