How can I make my home more soundproof?
We just bought a two story house and when you’re downstairs you can hear EVERYTHING upstairs (even people going to the bathroom). How do we make it quiet without ripping out the ceiling and spending a fortune.

Does the upstairs have carpet? that would help. Also think about more insulation in the house.
Tara, You need more insulation between the floors. Aloha!
how about just soundproofing over the existing ceiling? or put thick padding and carpet upstairs. washable bath rugs. can't help with the flushing. ear plugs?????????
You can get blown in insulation in the ceiling joists. Either from below or above. All it needs is holes in the ceiling for the hose and the insulation is blown in. Then just patch the holes. You can rent the machine at the homecenter. Some even will let use the machine for free if so many bags of insulation are purchased.
