How do you clean the carbon from a glass oil wick holder?

    Remove glass and hand wash with soap and water, rinse well and allow to air dry standing up.

    If you have a wood stove or a fireplace get a little bit of ash from that and put on a rag dampened with water. Take should remove the soot.

    Glass, unlike metal can soak in vinegar for a long long time.

    Hence why they put vinegar in glass bottles in the 1800s rather than in Tin Cans.

    Vinegar will eat the Carbon.

    Hot soapy water with dish soap is what I use.
