You can add a shim of wood next to the stump inside the stand to help even it out.

Is it alive cut tree or artificial???? Live tree--recut the bottom so it is straight, use shim as Morgan suggested under shorter side to level. Artificial-adjust each section by twisting to get them more centered or just adjust the branches if base/trunk is wrecked/bent so it looks level.

I always fasten my trunk to an Eyehook with Twine. Why?

I recollect a time as a Boy, 1975, when Santa was loudly complaining: Why Won't this Tree Stand Up? And Mrs. Claus was saying: Oop oop Catch it Hon!

    The answer: No Eyehook.

It is always Easier to get it Exactly [(X-C)-3]=18 inches from the Wall by:

    1. X=the length of the Twine you need to deduce

    2. C=The circumference of the trunk

    3. As 3=the inches of extra twine you need for the knots, always X-C=21 eases cutting the Twine.

But that's just me. Everything has to have a Method.
