Hi. The fine art of bonsai is a test of patience. But a tree or a bush is still a tree or a bush no matter it's size. The gardenia needs to be treated as such. Keep it in an area where it gets the right amount of filtered sun and air circulation. Trim with hair cutting scissors any new growth. Use filtered water with a touch of fish emulsion fertilizer in the water every time you water. Do not let the roots stand in water. Every three months, remove from the pot and trim new roots. Once a year put in new soil. Good luck.
