Here's mine made out of real branches.
Well, one thing I'd consider is the age/physical condition/temperament of the cat. For instance, an older or lame cat might appreciate ramps instead of having to jump up the levels; a cat with some sort of chronic illness may appreciate some sort of heat-reflective material at least where they lay; a shy, very young, or cat that's lower on the "pecking order" in your household may appreciate some hidey-holes (you know, those boxes with circular holes to get in and out?); a cat that fancies him/herself an epic hunter may want "leaves" or other things to hide behind while they stalk their "prey"; kittens would definitely need lots of different levels to practice jumping and eye-paw coordination. You get the idea. Ask your cat what they'd like! Lol. Most important for any design: a broader, totally stable base. You don't want the thing falling over. Good luck and have fun!!
I knew someone years ago who made one.
Came out great! Wood..lots of wood. The base was actually hinged on the front like a closet door. Kitty litterbox was in there and easy cleanup with the door! And maybe a store could sell cheap carpet that was not used during an installation.
Kitty will live his/her private bathroom under a condo lol.
