My dog has a Coolaroo bed that is stretched out in the center.

Trying to figure out a way to stretch and straighten it out without just throwing it a way

I have had the same issue. Washing does not shrink this fabric!

This is what I did to fix the problem:

Firstly, try and "guesstimate" the sag in inches by grabbing it up in your hand until it becomes taught. (write down your finding).

Second, divide the inches of sag by 2.

Next, take the cot apart so you are working with just the fabric. Along the long side of the cot, fold the long pocket up and over the body of the fabric using one of the divided measurements (it is as if you are folding the fabric for one pleat and pin in place), Stitch along the original pocket seam so as not to change the width of the pocket.

Do the same on the other side.

You do not have to make any adjustments on the short sides.

  • I have 2 of them, the fabric does stretch out over time. The fabric does not have to be taut to be serviceable for the pets, it is more of a "visual" eyesore for owners. Housecall200 has a great remedy!

I just bought a used one that was really stretched out - folks must have a massive dog because the side poles were even bent downward. I tossed the cover in the wash on warm (before I googled the care instructions, lol!) and it shrunk up nicely. Hubby managed to straighten out the poles and it was actually hard to reassemble because the cover was so taut.
