Use light colours on the walls and add large mirrors.
I'm loving our all white walls and trim. I did do a little bit of black just on the upper walls in the dining room and kitchen, but otherwise everything else is white. Then the color in the furniture and accessories can pop and blend without the walls feeling like they need attention too. White is just a beautiful clean backdrop for everything else.
I would do a very light color. A neutral like white, muted white, very very light beige or gray.
Light gray (Sherwin Williams has a pure gray that is nice and light), just be sure to try it on the walls first. Many grays have other colors mixed in that will look different once it's on the walls of your home. Good luck!
