I have had ceramic cooktops for years. I have a tried and true method that works.

When I have light water stains and light burnt on food. I wipe the top with a wet cloth. Then I use a product especially formulated for glass top stoves called, Cerama-Bryte. I apply the product directly to the residue. I rub the stains and buildup with the product and a damp cloth. Wipe it up with a wet cloth. Spray, buff and polish with vinegar and a dry cloth and paper towel.

When I have heavy burnt on food and hard water rings. I use vinegar and a razor blade.

I keep straight vinegar in a spray bottle. I spray the vinegar on the cook top and let it set for 3 -5 minutes. Then I wipe it off with a wet cloth. I use the razor blade to scrape off the heavy burnt marks. Do not slice with the razor blade, but use the width of the razor blade with a scraping motion. Once I finish that, I wipe it off with a wet cloth. Then I apply the Cerama-Bryte directly onto the burnt residue. I scrub the spots with the product and a damp cloth. You may have to use some elbow grease to rub of the residue. Once again, I wipe the glass stop as clean as possible. I spray the glass top with the vinegar and polish it a paper towel or dry cloth.

Most heating elements in glass top stoves are imbedded into the glass so that you cannot touch them. Use a cream product like Weiman's Stove Top cleaner or Cerama Bryte for cleaning the top.

Try car cleaner polish. Unless the burners have burnt in sugar which etches the surface it may work for you.
