Instead of making your own cleaner , I highly recommend that you get a carpet cleaner called Folex , I got it at home depot for about $6 . This stuff is GREAT !!! It gets out everything , rust , ink , blood , wine ... Just spray it on the stain , rub it in with your fingers , then blot with a paper towel. This also works in a carpet cleaning machine . What I like about this cleaner , besides that it works so well , is that it has no harsh chemicals !!!! I even have some in a spray bottle , in my laundry room !

I use one part dawn dish soap to 2 parts peroxide. It even got out grease from shoes!
