I made this with a tomato cage and 3 9 ft garland from Walmart
I have made several from a large real tree branches that were straight that I let dry for the summer as the trunk and old branches from several old artificial trees. Spray the real branch will alcohol to kill any bugs. Take the branches off the old fake trees and drill holes in the real tree branch, spacing to look like a real tree would look. Insert the fake branches, largest at the bottom and work your way up. I had an old antique standing lamp that was in too awful shape to use but the bottom stand is brass and onyx and I put a large bolt, nuts and some washers in it and screwed to big branch into after drilling a hole in the base just a little smaller than the bolt. I also made a base of concrete in a small roasting pan-spray the pan generously with cooking spray. Put two long cross bolts in the base of the tree and fill the pan to an inch and a half over the bolts with concrete. Don't put more in because the base is real heavy.
One year we had $0 for a tree so I used my tomato cage after the plant stopped producing. Put it upside down, zip tie it and decorate
